Are You Aware?

I live in New Jersey. My friend got pulled over the other day for no reason, i mean, she was not committing any illegal act that time. While the cop was behind her car, he ran her plate no. and found out that her registration is expired! So she got pulled over, got ticketed and her car impounded!!! Yes, they took her car for reason that unregistered cars should not be on the road. I know you get a ticket if you have expired registration but to impound your car is something new to me or something that I am innocent of. So my friend did some calling, first to the local police station to verify if cops have right to impound unregistered vehicle - answer is YES. When she went to motor vehicle to renew her registration she asked the same question to the lady - answer is YES too! For everything - total damage is $190 to get your car back. If you don't get it right away they will charge you $35/day on top of the $190.

I don't know if the rules vary from state to state. Just check your local DMV.

A Gift Watch

Every year we send a big box of goodies to folks back home in the Philippines. We are almost done with our shopping but there are few things need to be done before we finally ship it. First, it is my brother’s birthday this coming Friday and he called last night asking for a special gift. He wants a watch for his birthday. My brother was on the phone with my husband so hubby will be the one in charge in the selection and buying it online for him. I am not really an expert when it comes to buying mens watches but I am very good with jewelry and clothing.

I told hubby about the Guess "High Gear" Chronograph Sport watch I saw online. My brother is into sports and sometimes would go diving with friends. This guess watch has round silvertone case, black dial with three sub dials, a stop watch and water resistant up to 10 ATM/100 meter.

I am sure he will like this but it is all up to hubby to decide.

Tiger Woods Is Breaking His Silence

Three months after the much talked about car accident in the middle of the night where Tiger crashed his SUV on a tree outside his Florida home, he is finally speaking out (for the first time) publicly on Friday at 11 a.m. at the Clubhouse in TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Verde Beach, Florida. Tiger is expected to make an apology and discuss what are his plans next. It is not a press conference but the associated press, reuters and Bloomberg will be there and some friends, colleagues and close friends. Only one camera in the room, will be aired via satellite and no questions for Tiger.

The Winter Olympic Bouquet of Flowers

The bouquet of green mums and hypericum berries that athletes receive instead of medals during the awarding ceremony at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver are from Just Beginnings Flowers & Margitta’s Flowers in Surrey, British Columbia. The selection process was done with 58 entries and June Strandberg’s (bouquet designer and owner) entry was the one chosen. June believes that her program where she teaches floristry to women who have left prison, to women who are recovering from addiction or who have been victims of violence earned her a contract to make the flowers for the 2010 Winter Olympics. These flowers represent Canada and British Columbia. They replace the medals that athletes received but they are as valuable as the winning medals too.

V-Day

Another Snow Storm

Only a snow storm can make this road empty. This is our street last Wednesday around noon time, as we are being hit by a big snow storm. Only parked cars covered with snow on the road. The snow started to fall early morning and lasted until 10 p.m. leaving us more than a foot of snow. I have to dig out the van to be able to open the doors. It was a mess and a very tiring day.

Hyundai's Hybrid Car Technology

At the Detroit Auto Show, Hyundai unveiled its new hybrid car technology called Blue-Will. This new hybrid system has 152-horsepower 1.6 liter gasoline engine and 100 kilowatt electric motor powered by a lithium polymer battery. It operates similar to the Toyota Prius where it uses electricity at low speeds and the gas engine kicks in for more power when needed. The estimate gas mileage is at 50 to 55 mpg. Other features area a solar cell sunroof, a thermal generator that converts heat from the gasoline's exhaust gases into electric energy to help power auxiliary systems. This new hybrid car system will first be used on Hyundai Sonata which will be in the market later this year.
